Students to be on Board of Education
Tuesday, 19 January 2010 22:56

The Board of Education has asked the school for student representatives to attend their meetings. The Young Democrats, Young Republicans, and Student Council will each nominate two candidates, and from that group two representatives will be elected to attend Board of Education meetings in order to have the student voice better heard in their decisions. The Board of Ed. essentially feels that they need better interaction with students, and they feel that having students attend their meetings will open a door to better communication, as well as get them student input on decisions that would directly affect them. “The purpose of having a Student Representative to the Board of Education is to bring a needed perspective to the decision making process regarding public education in Wethersfield. Students are the people that are most affected by Boards of Education,” says senior of Young Democrats candidate Casey Lilley. “If I am elected to be the Student Representative it would be my goal to make sure that every decision that the Board of Education makes is in the best interest of the student body.”

Students Caught Hacking into School Computers
Sunday, 03 January 2010 20:25

Several students at Wethersfield High School have been caught hacking into computers in the computer labs and terrorizing the accounts of other students. While the identity and specific punishment of these students remains unknown, it is common knowledge that a group of students were caught hacking in to the administrators’ accounts and sending random commands for computers to shut down. This means that while you are working on a school computer, it could randomly turn off because certain students made it do so. This would cause you to lose all your work at anytime for no apparent reason. “It’s kind of senseless because they’re hurting their friends,” says Mrs. Griffin, the computer consultant on the 4th floor lab. “I don’t know if they’re doing it to impress their friends, but what if their friends lost all their work? I wouldn’t be impressed.”

“It’s still surreal to me,” the 19 year old said to reporters, “It’s something you’d see in the movies.” On November 23, 2009, an armed man entered D’Angelo’s Sandwich Shop on the Silas Deane Highway with the intent to commit robbery.
